Story Spine Intensive
For when the message feels muddy — and the mission isn’t landing.
The Story Spine Intensive is a 30‑day, focused engagement where we turn your scattered messaging into a clear, shared narrative your whole organization can use.
It’s built for nonprofits, ministries, and values‑driven organizations that are doing serious work but keep running into the same problems:
Donors and partners don’t quite “get” what you do.
Staff and board tell different versions of the story.
Every grant, appeal, or landing page feels like starting from scratch.
In one month, we build the message backbone that ties it all together.
What We Do Together
Pre‑work (Week 0–1)
You complete a short intake and share key materials: recent grant proposals, web pages, one campaign email, and any pitch decks.
Session 1 – Discovery Workshop (90 minutes)
We get everything on the table:
The problem you exist to address
The people you serve and need to reach
The promises you can actually make
The misconceptions or “competing stories” that keep getting in the way
Between Sessions – Josh builds your Story Spine
I go heads‑down and develop:
A 1‑page Narrative Spine (problem → stakes → hope → your role → proof → call to action)
3–5 Core Messages customized by audience (donors, community, partners, internal)
A “What We Say / What We Don’t Say” guide so the whole team can stay on‑message
A few before/after examples (website hero, appeal paragraph, or case statement excerpt) you can copy‑paste immediately
Session 2 – Alignment & Refinement (60 minutes)
We walk through the draft together, stress‑test it against real scenarios, and tune language until it feels both true and usable.
Final Delivery (By Day 30)
You receive:
A clean PDF and editable doc with:
Narrative Spine (1 page)
Audience‑specific key messages (2–3 pages)
“Say / Don’t Say” guardrails (1–2 pages)
Before/after examples
Recordings of both sessions for your team.
This becomes the reference point for future grants, campaigns, websites, speeches, and board work.
